It is made of tough injection molded Polypropylene plastic that will resist sunlight, salt water, oil, gasoline and most common marine chemicals. Nylon plumbing fittings like this cost less than similar fittings made of Marelon or Bronze.

Used in a RV

I modified this for use as a freshwater hookup port for my RV. Unlike shore power and sewer hookups the RV as purchased required you to leave a large door open to connect to a campground water supply. So I cut off the hose connecter threads to accommodate the freshwater hose fitting spray painted it black to match the storage compartment installed it and purchased a rubber cork for use when underway. Simple modification that makes for a neater appearance.
